Russia's Tennis Babes Represent at Australian Open


The Russian ladies clearly know how to represent it. I was a little sad to see Sharapova go so soon. But hey, one of these lovely ladies has to make it far ...

Russian Women a Strong Showing at Australian Open
Several Russian women have showcased strong performances in the early stages of this year’s Australian Open.

Dinara Safina stands out among several other Russian female players as the second seed in the world tennis tournament. On Thursday she achieved a straight sets 6-4, 6-3 second round win again Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.

In a post-match interview with the tournament’s official Web site, Safina said she was pleased with her performance on the court, but noted she has room for improvement as she pursues further victories.

Fedor is Russia's Best Athlete


I'm pleased to see Fedor get the recognition he deserves - now in America too. I can't speak for the tennis chick as I'm not much of a tennis guy.


Russians Vote Fighter, Tennis Star as Year's Best Athletes
They are shining stars in their respective sports and national heroes in Russia, the home country they share.

This year, thousands of Russians chose both of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Fedor Emelianenko to be named the country’s Athletes of the Year.

The first-ever award honoring Russian athletes drew half a million fans, who voted for their country’s favorite sports figures. Read the full story here ...
